A high-level meeting was held at Lok Seva Bhavan between Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Agriculture Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Sachin Ramchandra Jadhav, and a delegation led by Dr. Nese Srinivasulu, Chief Scientist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Philippines.
The discussions focused on the potential for bringing advanced rice research and scientific expertise closer to Odisha’s farming sector.
Rice remains a major component of Odisha’s agricultural economy, making research-driven improvements in productivity, crop resilience and farming practices important for the state’s long-term food and livelihood security.
