New Delhi ,GTNS/September, 09/26 : India’s preparations for the 2026 Asian Games have gained momentum with the country’s athletes receiving a ceremonial send-off in the national capital.
Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya addressed the Indian contingent and encouraged the athletes to approach the upcoming competition with confidence, discipline and a strong winning mindset.
The minister urged the sportspersons not to allow pressure to affect their performance. Instead, he encouraged them to use pressure as motivation and view every strong opponent as an opportunity to test their abilities and achieve greater results.
A total of 503 members will represent India at the Asian Games in Japan. The contingent includes athletes and support personnel who will compete across various sporting disciplines.
Addressing the gathering, Mandaviya highlighted the changing sporting environment in India and credited the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with creating new opportunities for athletes to train, compete and pursue excellence at the international level.
The minister also emphasised the importance of converting opportunities into tangible achievements. He called upon the athletes to remain focused on their goals and carry the confidence of the nation with them when they compete in Japan.
The send-off event provided an opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of the Indian athletes ahead of one of Asia’s biggest multi-sport competitions.
With the Games approaching, expectations are rising around the Indian contingent. Athletes will now look to translate years of preparation into strong performances and bring home medals across disciplines.
