CM Yogi Launches 9th National Nutrition Month in Varanasi, Focus on Healthier Communities

VARANASI ,GTNS/September, 09/26 : Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the 9th National Nutrition Month in Varanasi, marking the beginning of a month-long campaign aimed at strengthening awareness about nutrition, maternal health and child development.
The programme brought the spotlight on the importance of balanced diets and proper nutrition, particularly for children, pregnant women and nursing mothers. The campaign is being positioned as an important part of the broader effort to improve health outcomes at the grassroots level.
During the launch programme, the Chief Minister highlighted the need for greater public participation in tackling malnutrition. He stressed that nutritional well-being is closely connected with education, productivity and the overall development of society.
The initiative is expected to involve Anganwadi workers, health personnel, government departments and community organisations in spreading nutrition-related awareness. Special emphasis is likely to be placed on identifying nutritional challenges early and encouraging families to adopt healthier food practices.
Nutrition Month activities generally focus on issues such as child growth, maternal nutrition, breastfeeding, anaemia prevention, hygiene and the importance of locally available nutritious foods. Community-level programmes are designed to take these messages directly to families.
The Varanasi launch also underlined the role of coordinated action between government agencies and local communities. Officials and field workers are expected to use the campaign to encourage people to make nutrition a regular part of household health planning.
The Uttar Pradesh government has been stressing the strengthening of welfare and health initiatives targeting women and children. The National Nutrition Month provides another platform to connect these programmes with public awareness and community participation.
With the campaign now underway, the key challenge will be to convert awareness into lasting changes in eating habits and maternal and child healthcare. The month-long drive is expected to keep nutrition at the centre of public discussion across the state.
