KORAPUT: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited several areas of Koraput district affected by prolonged heavy rainfall triggered by the depression and interacted directly with residents to understand the difficulties faced by people on the ground.
During the visit, the Chief Minister spoke with affected residents and sought details about their immediate needs, including access to essential services. The Odisha Chief Minister’s Office said Majhi interacted with rain-affected people at Chindili High School in Koraput district and discussed the situation with local public representatives and administrative officials.

The field visit came amid continuing relief and emergency response operations in parts of southern Odisha. The Chief Minister had also undertaken an aerial assessment of rain- and flood-affected districts, including Koraput, as authorities continued to monitor the impact of the weather system.
Focus on Essential Supplies
A major focus of the Chief Minister’s instructions was the speed with which essential assistance reaches affected families.
Relief operations are continuing in the affected areas, with the administration directed to ensure that food, safe drinking water, emergency medical services and other necessary assistance reach people without delay. The CMO said relief distribution, rescue operations, drinking-water supply and health services were continuing on a priority basis.
Majhi also asked the district administration to further accelerate relief and assistance activities so that people facing difficulties because of the rainfall receive support as quickly as possible.
Ground-Level Assessment

The visit provided an opportunity for the Chief Minister to hear directly from residents rather than relying only on administrative reports. Discussions with local representatives and officials covered the situation in affected areas and the ongoing response measures.
Earlier reports said the Chief Minister was scheduled to review the flood situation at Kotpad in Koraput and hold discussions with senior officials in Jeypore.
The state government has been maintaining heightened attention on southern Odisha as heavy rainfall has affected several districts. The administration is continuing relief, rescue and essential-service operations in vulnerable areas.

The Chief Minister’s message during the field interaction was centred on ensuring that people affected by the rainfall receive necessary assistance and that relief operations continue with urgency.
