Dubai landmark features a special tribute to the Indian Prime Minister as his birthday draws attention across the UAE
INDIA ; GTNS , SEPTEMBER 17, 2026,DUBAI — The iconic Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, was illuminated in a special tribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday as he marked his 76th birthday.
The spectacular display in Dubai featured imagery associated with the Indian Prime Minister, turning the landmark into a prominent visual symbol of the occasion. Reports of the illumination quickly drew attention across social media and news platforms.
The Burj Khalifa has previously been illuminated on occasions connected with Modi’s birthday, making the latest display part of a recurring tradition in Dubai. Such public displays have also been associated with the broader relationship between India and the United Arab Emirates.
The latest tribute comes against the backdrop of continued high-level engagement between the two countries. Earlier this month, Modi met Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in New Delhi.
During that meeting, the two sides discussed strengthening the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, including cooperation in areas such as defence, space, nuclear energy, technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, critical minerals, energy, food security and connectivity.
India and the UAE have also expanded economic engagement in recent years. During the September 12 meeting, the two leaders noted progress in bilateral relations and discussed the UAE’s USD 11.5-billion integrated greenfield aluminium project in Odisha, announced by International Holding Company.
The Burj Khalifa display therefore arrives at a time when India-UAE relations encompass a wide range of political, commercial, technological and people-to-people connections.
For Indians in the UAE and observers in India, the illuminated Dubai skyline provided a high-profile visual moment on Modi’s birthday, while the continuing diplomatic engagement between the two countries provides a broader context to the occasion.
