From Brahmapur policing to the capital city, senior IPS officer steps into a key law-and-order assignment
GTNS ,SEPTEMBER 25, 2026 ,BHUBANESWAR: Senior IPS officer Shravan Vivek has assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bhubaneswar, marking his entry into one of Odisha’s most significant urban policing assignments.
Vivek comes to Bhubaneswar after serving for an extended period as Superintendent of Police in Brahmapur, where his policing responsibilities included maintaining public order and responding to a range of law-and-order challenges.
His new assignment places him at the centre of policing operations in the state capital, where issues relating to public safety, traffic management, crime prevention and rapid police response remain important priorities.
Known for his active field-level approach, Shravan Vivek has drawn public attention during his previous assignments for his handling of policing situations and operational responsibilities.
With the change of command, attention will now turn to how the new DCP approaches the evolving security and law-and-order requirements of Bhubaneswar.
The capital’s expanding population, increasing traffic pressure and diverse urban challenges require coordinated policing and timely response. Vivek’s experience in district-level policing is expected to form an important part of his approach as he takes charge of the Bhubaneswar police administration.
