Bhubaneswar, September 07, 2026 | GTNS In a significant development for Odisha’s aluminium sector, National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has signed a technology licensing agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) in Dubai for the expansion of its aluminium smelter at Angul.
The agreement will facilitate the deployment of EGA’s advanced DX+ Ultra technology for NALCO’s brownfield smelter expansion project. The technology is expected to support improvements in operational efficiency, productivity and overall competitiveness.
The development comes as NALCO works towards its ambitious target of achieving 1 million tonnes per annum (1 MTPA) of aluminium production capacity.
The agreement was signed in the presence of senior officials from both organisations, including NALCO CMD Brijendra Pratap Singh and EGA CEO Abdulnasser Bin Kalban.
The partnership marks an important step in NALCO’s expansion strategy and reflects growing international cooperation in advanced aluminium production technology.
With the Angul expansion, NALCO is looking to strengthen its production capabilities while enhancing its position in the global aluminium industry. The project is also expected to further reinforce Angul’s role as a key industrial centre in Odisha.
