Bhubaneswar, GTNS | September 09, 2026: Strengthening workplace safety in the mining sector was at the centre of a high-level Corporate Level Tripartite Safety Committee meeting held in Bhubaneswar for Panchpatmali Bauxite Mines and Utkal D&E Coal Mines.
The meeting was conducted under the aegis of the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Bhubaneswar Region, bringing together senior representatives from government, management and employees to discuss measures aimed at improving safety standards across mining operations.
Key discussions focused on creating safer working environments, strengthening preventive mechanisms and ensuring that safety remains an integral part of day-to-day mining activities. Participants also stressed the importance of sustained monitoring and responsible operational practices.
The deliberations included inputs from officials representing DDGMS, SEZ-Ranchi, NALCO’s Director (Production) and the General Secretary of RU-Mines, along with senior officials from NALCO’s S&P Complex and M&R Complex.
The interaction provided a platform for stakeholders to review safety challenges and discuss practical approaches to reducing workplace risks. Emphasis was placed on cooperation between regulatory authorities, mine management and workers to build a stronger safety culture.
Mining operations involve complex working conditions, making continuous safety assessment and strict adherence to established procedures essential. The meeting underlined the need for a proactive approach in which potential risks are identified and addressed before they result in accidents.
The participating stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Zero Harm principles and promoting sustainable mining practices. Safety-focused coordination among different levels of the organisation was highlighted as an important element in achieving this objective.
