The two leaders tour the exhibition at Bharat Mandapam as India and Russia highlight opportunities across technology, industry and innovation
NEW DELHI , ; GTNS , SEPTEMBER 11, 2026 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the INNOPROM exhibition at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, bringing the economic and industrial dimension of India-Russia relations into focus during the BRICS 2026 Summit.
The visit followed the leaders’ bilateral engagement and provided an opportunity to showcase industrial capabilities and areas where Indian and Russian companies can explore greater cooperation.
The exhibition is designed to highlight industrial technologies, innovation and manufacturing capabilities, giving the two leaders a closer look at sectors that could contribute to expanding economic ties between the two countries.
The joint tour also carried significance against the backdrop of India and Russia’s long-standing strategic partnership, which increasingly extends beyond traditional defence cooperation into trade, technology, energy, manufacturing and other economic sectors.
The presence of Modi and Putin together at the exhibition underlined the importance both sides attach to strengthening the commercial and industrial foundations of their relationship.
The BRICS summit has provided a wider platform for such engagements, allowing India to combine high-level diplomacy with business and investment opportunities.
The Modi-Putin interaction at INNOPROM therefore added an economic dimension to the summit agenda, highlighting the potential for closer India-Russia cooperation in emerging technologies, industrial production and innovation.
