Bengaluru, August 30: Karnataka Minister B Nagendra has resigned from the state Cabinet amid renewed political pressure over alleged financial irregularities involving the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Development Corporation.
Nagendra, who had returned to the Cabinet only recently, announced his resignation while facing renewed demands from the BJP over the case. He said he was stepping down voluntarily to avoid embarrassment to the Congress party.
The controversy dates back to 2024, when allegations emerged that funds belonging to the Valmiki Corporation had been transferred without authorisation. The case became a major political issue for the Karnataka Congress government.
Nagendra had previously resigned from the Siddaramaiah Cabinet in 2024 amid the controversy. His latest resignation means the issue has once again become a political challenge for the Congress government under Chief Minister D K Shivakumar.
The BJP has used the controversy to attack the Congress government and demand accountability over the alleged financial irregularities.
