Rajya Sabha MP visits local puja pandals, offers prayers and extends wishes for prosperity, progress and well-being

SEPTEMBER 19, 2026 ,CUTTACK — Rajya Sabha MP Dilip Kumar Ray visited Vishwakarma Puja pandals in Cuttack’s Jagatpur area, joining local communities in the festive celebrations and offering prayers to Lord Vishwakarma.
During his visit, Ray went to the puja pandals and sought the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma. He interacted with people associated with the celebrations and conveyed his greetings to residents and members of the local working and business communities.
Vishwakarma Puja has a particular connection with communities whose livelihoods depend on tools, machinery, engineering, construction, manufacturing and skilled work. Across industrial and commercial areas, the festival is traditionally marked by prayers for workplaces, equipment and machinery, alongside community celebrations.
Ray expressed his wishes that the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma bring happiness, prosperity and progress into the lives of people and their families.
The Jagatpur area has a strong industrial and commercial character, making the annual observance especially significant for workers, technicians, mechanics, artisans, entrepreneurs and establishments operating in and around the locality.
The festival also provides an opportunity to recognise the contribution of skilled workers and technical communities whose daily work supports manufacturing, construction, repair, transportation and other economic activities.
Ray’s visit brought a public representative into the local celebrations while keeping the focus on the religious and community significance of the occasion.
Lord Vishwakarma is traditionally revered in Hindu belief as the divine architect and craftsman. The festival associated with him is therefore closely linked with ideas of skill, craftsmanship, technology, construction and productive work.

Dilip Ray, who began his current Rajya Sabha term from Odisha in April 2026, has also raised issues concerning Odisha in Parliament, including questions related to bamboo-based industries, transport, infrastructure and other state-specific matters.
The visit to Jagatpur therefore came amid a festival that carries both spiritual significance and a strong connection with Odisha’s working, industrial and artisan communities.
