New Delhi , GTNS/September, 09/26 : The Delhi government has stepped up its drive against unauthorised construction, with Chief Minister Rekha Gupta directing civic authorities to take firm action against illegal structures across several parts of the capital.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has been instructed to carry out demolition action against structures found to have been constructed in violation of regulations. Senior civic officials have also been asked to remain present at the sites and closely supervise the enforcement exercise.
The government’s focus is not limited to identifying illegal buildings. A detailed inspection of PG accommodations and hostels across Delhi has also been ordered.
Officials have been directed to examine construction and property records, determine when unauthorised work was carried out and establish which agency or jurisdiction was responsible for the concerned property.
The move is aimed at strengthening accountability and preventing unauthorised construction from continuing unchecked. Authorities are expected to verify whether buildings and accommodation facilities comply with applicable municipal and safety regulations.
The crackdown comes amid growing attention on unauthorised structures in densely populated areas of the national capital. Enforcement agencies are now expected to intensify field inspections and take action wherever violations are confirmed.
The government has also stressed the need for officials to monitor the situation on the ground rather than relying solely on paperwork and complaints.
With inspections expanding across Delhi, property owners and operators of PG facilities could face action if serious violations are detected.
The latest directive signals a tougher enforcement approach, with the Delhi government putting illegal construction and building-rule violations firmly under the civic administration’s spotlight.
