Bhubaneswar ,GTNS/September, 09/26 : The five orangutans rescued from the Balasore region of Odisha will remain under quarantine for around one month as wildlife authorities closely monitor their health and behaviour.
Following the unusual rescue, preparations have been made to keep the animals in a dedicated quarantine facility at Nandankanan Zoological Park. The move is aimed at ensuring that the rescued orangutans receive proper medical observation before any decision is taken regarding their long-term care.
The Director of Nandankanan Zoo has discussed the arrangements and the precautions being followed for the animals. During the quarantine period, specialists are expected to monitor their physical condition, feeding habits and overall behaviour.
The rescued orangutans have attracted considerable public attention because of the unusual circumstances surrounding their presence in the Balasore area. Their origin and how they reached the region are also expected to remain important aspects of the investigation.
