111th State-Level Celebration Held at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar; Focus on Inclusive Development and Public Service
BHUBANESWAR: The 111th state-level birth anniversary celebration of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya was held at Jayadev Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, bringing renewed focus on his ideas of social welfare, self-reliance and service-oriented public life.
The occasion was marked by a tribute to the late thinker and political philosopher, with speakers recalling his concepts of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya, which emphasise the welfare and empowerment of people at the grassroots and the last mile of development.
The programme also highlighted Upadhyaya’s emphasis on Indian social values, indigenous economic thinking and decentralisation. His vision of creating employment opportunities and ensuring access to water for agriculture was recalled as part of the broader discussion on rural and inclusive development.
The state government’s welfare initiatives, including Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, Deendayal Karmachari Niwas in industrial areas, Subhadra and Samrudha Krushak, were cited in the context of efforts aimed at extending development benefits to different sections of society.
The event also linked the philosophy of Antyodaya with Odisha’s stated development objective for 2036. The emphasis was on building a self-reliant, prosperous and dignified Odisha by keeping the welfare of people at the centre of governance.
The birth anniversary programme thus served as an occasion to revisit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s ideas and their stated relevance to contemporary debates on inclusive growth, social responsibility and people-centric governance.
