MP Dharmendra Pradhan and Rajya Sabha MP, Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal join remembrance programme at Tihidi in Bhadrak

SEPTEMBER 19, 2026 , TIHIDI, BHADRAK — A remembrance programme was held at Tihidi in Bhadrak district to mark the fourth death anniversary of former Dhamnagar MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi, bringing together senior BJP leaders, party workers, local representatives and people associated with the late legislator.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Rajya Sabha MP and Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal joined the programme and paid their respects to the late leader.
The memorial observance was centred on Sethi’s public life, his association with Dhamnagar and his contribution to the BJP organisation in Odisha. The gathering also provided an occasion for party workers and supporters to remember his political journey and his connection with the people of Bhadrak.
Sethi, who represented Dhamnagar Assembly constituency, was a two-time legislator. He was a resident of Mangarajpur under Tihidi block in Bhadrak district and remained closely associated with the region’s social and political activities. He died on September 19, 2022, at AIIMS Bhubaneswar at the age of 62.
The late legislator was also known within Odisha’s political and cultural circles for his interest in literature and public issues. His passing in 2022 drew condolences from leaders across the political spectrum, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who described Sethi as a hardworking legislator who contributed to Odisha’s progress and social empowerment.
The Tihidi remembrance programme therefore carried significance beyond an annual memorial observance, particularly for people who worked with Sethi during his political career.
For the BJP organisation in Odisha, Sethi’s political journey remains connected with the party’s expansion in the state. He was among the leaders who built a long association with the organisation at the grassroots level and later represented Dhamnagar in the Assembly.
The presence of senior leaders at the anniversary programme highlighted the continuing remembrance of Sethi among party workers and people associated with Dhamnagar and Tihidi.
The memorial occasion also recalled Sethi’s connection with his native area. Earlier commemorative programmes following his death had included visits to his Mangarajpur residence and tributes at his memorial, reflecting the importance of the locality in his personal and public life.
As family members, supporters and political colleagues remembered Bishnu Charan Sethi on his fourth death anniversary, the programme in Tihidi served as an occasion to revisit his contribution to public life and his association with Dhamnagar.
