NEW DELHI: GTNS, SEPTEMBER 10, 2026 Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for stronger international cooperation in space, stressing that the rapid expansion of space activities must be accompanied by sustainability, inclusivity and responsible global engagement.
Addressing the International Space Summit in France through video conferencing, Modi highlighted the growing importance of space technology and the need for nations to work together as the sector enters a new phase of development.
The Prime Minister underlined that space is no longer limited to traditional government-led programmes. With increasing participation from private companies, researchers and emerging space economies, the sector is becoming broader and more technologically complex.
Against this backdrop, Modi emphasised the importance of ensuring that the benefits of space technology reach a wider section of humanity. International collaboration, he said, will be crucial in addressing emerging challenges and creating a sustainable future for space activities.
India has increasingly positioned its space programme as a platform for innovation, scientific research and international cooperation. New Delhi has also encouraged greater participation by the private sector while expanding partnerships with other spacefaring nations.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come as countries around the world expand their ambitions in areas including satellite services, exploration, navigation, communications and other space-based technologies.
