Bhubaneswar, GTNS | September 09, 2026: The arrival of young orangutans at Nandankanan Zoological Park has generated considerable interest among visitors, while their care and well-being remain a key focus for the authorities.
The young animals have reportedly been displaying signs of searching for their mother, drawing emotional attention from those observing them. Zoo personnel are ensuring that the orangutan babies receive regular food, water and the necessary care.
Odisha Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singh Khuntia said special attention is being given to the young orangutans and their daily requirements. He also highlighted the distinctive physical characteristics of the animals, some of which bear similarities to human features.
The presence of the orangutans has added a new attraction to Nandankanan, one of Odisha’s prominent wildlife destinations. Their behaviour and appearance have particularly caught the interest of visitors and wildlife enthusiasts.
At the same time, officials are focusing on responsible care rather than visitor attention alone. Proper nutrition, hydration, protection and regular monitoring are important for ensuring that the young animals adapt safely to their new surroundings.
The development has also brought renewed attention to wildlife conservation and the importance of specialised care for animals under human protection.
