India and Ethiopia have reviewed fresh avenues for strengthening bilateral defence cooperation during the second Joint Defence Cooperation Meeting held in Addis Ababa on September 28.
GTNS | SEPTEMBER 29, 2026 , The meeting brought together senior officials from both countries, with Joint Secretary Sanjay Kumar leading the Indian side and Major General Tesom Gamachoo, Director General of Defence, Foreign Affairs and Military Cooperation, representing Ethiopia.
Discussions covered a broad range of areas aimed at expanding practical engagement between the two defiance establishments. Military training and joint exercises were among the key subjects examined during the meeting.

The two sides also discussed possibilities for deeper cooperation in military medical activities, peace establishment and the defence industry. The agenda reflects an effort to widen defence ties beyond traditional military engagement and explore areas of institutional and technical cooperation.

The meeting provides another platform for India and Ethiopia to maintain regular dialogue on defence-related matters and identify areas where bilateral cooperation can be developed further.
The second edition of the Joint Defence Cooperation Meeting underlines the continuing engagement between the two countries in the defence and security domain.
